Callan’s Kicks returns to radio for General Election 2020

RTÉ’s premier satirical comedy show Callan’s Kicks is back for a 15th season to cover General Election 2020

It’s Leo versus Micheál in the battle for the Taoiseach’s office as the series follows which follicly challenged former Minister for Health gets to run the little tax-haven, Black and Tans-obsessed country we call home.

Fine Gael is running on a slogan of “Look Forward… to owning a home by 2074, eh maybe” while Fianna Fáil’s slogan is “Lads, please don’t look up the years 1997-2011 on Wikipedia”.

This fresh new series for 2020 will follow the campaign trail antics of ministers like Paschal, Murphs and Shane Ross plus would-be ministers like Jimiriam and Babby Cowen as GE2020 reaches a crescendo which will have absolutely zero effect on the future of Ireland. Hashtag ledgebags.

Can Fine Gael cling to power like a tenant clinging to the lease of their 2k-a-month bedsit next to a busy landfill? Or will Fianna Fáil get another shot at wrecking the country in a new decade? Stay tuned.

Ensuring a firm and fair kicking of equal opportunities, Callan’s Kicks also follows sigh-of-disappointment-taken-human-form, Sinn Féin’s Mary Lou McDonald, as well as Green leader Eamon “Bring back the wolves” Ryan, Labour’s Brendan Howlin leading a group of septuagenarian candidates and lefties like Bríd Coppinger from People Before Progress and the two interchangeable TDs leading the Social Democrats. And let’s not forget the independents, which is probably their campaign slogan. Plus the Kicks follows Donald Trump’s impeachment trial and the slow, hilarious break-up of Britain’s Royal Family while Boris Johnson rules from his barely-working No 10. Quavers.

Callan’s Kicks. Fridays at 6.30pm on RTÉ Radio One and on Podcast from January 24th 2020.
